  1. What a very pleasant blog and a pleasure to read! I own a Roland Stage Piano, probably the first that they produced, and a Guild Bluesbird electric guitar in the style of a Les Paul. But at 79, I’ve stopped playing, not that I was particularly accomplished.

Chinese by ethnicity, I also had a Tiger Mom who was accomplished in many things including sewing, cooking, tap dancing, tennis, and broadcasting the news on the hour and half hour at the Voice of America for decades. Her Mandarin was beautiful.

She passed last month at the age of 101.

Aside from being somewhat neurotic, my mother’s offspring became millionaires and accomplished in our endeavors through at least two generations. Thus you can say that we’re driven, so that enough was/is never enough…

Me? I’m a retired aerospace engineer/mgr who joined the Army in the Sixties, so Vietnam was my war. We lost over 58,000 American Combat Soldiers and Marines in that failed effort to contain Communism in that distant 3rd world nation.

My daughter is a US Marine who finished her tour in Iraq and is now deployed in N’Djamena, Chad. Her brother, an Eagle Scout, is a US Air Force officer working in Cyber warfare.

We have given our country our best.

Finally, if our War on Terror is anything like our Decades-old War on Drugs, this will not end well for us.
