Mother says I should at least have a white dress if I’m going to insist on not needing an expensive ring that probably cost somebody his life and which I will likely end up taking off and losing inside a piano somewhere. So, here’s what I’ve come up with: the J. Crew Sophia dress plus a tangerine sash from David’s Bridal. Cheap, easy, and of course, very me.

I love it…and yes it’s very you :). I only wish there was a featured pineapple somewhere.
I’m engaged and refused any kind of ring, also – I can barely keep track of my phone, let alone a ring. 🙂
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sash! I want the same color, but all of a sudden David’s Bridal doesnt carry it anymore 🙁 random question, would you possibly know where I could get one?!
Ugh, David’s Bridal was the worst! I should probably write a whole post about my wedding (a year late), but here’s basically what happened:
I went into a David’s Bridal against my better judgment and had them tell me that it was going to take TWELVE WEEKS to get that sash in. I didn’t have twelve weeks, and I also felt mad that what’s basically a satin tube sewed shut at the ends takes that long to get in. So, I went to a fabric store, bought the last piece of bright orange satin, and took it to a tailor to have it made. It ended up being about 12 feet long and 4 inches wide, with one two foot section in the middle and two 5 feet sections on each side (so that the connecting seam would be more hidden behind me). I wore it wrapped twice around me and then tied in a bow, although if I were to do it again, I’d probably get it made even longer and wrap it a couple more times around to prevent drooping.
The end cost wasn’t a whole lot better that getting it from DB, but it was done quickly and I liked it. I think the fabric + thread cost me about $15-20 (not really sure) and the tailor charged me $10 to sew it. If I had my own sewing machine, I’d probably have just made it myself.
